Today at my house

At a scrapping retreat I recently went to I got to take a look at a friends Paper Doll Cricut cartridge. She was cutting out dinosaurs on it. Canyon has a dinosaur obsession. He has since he was a baby. I thought it would die down by now, but it hasn't. So, I bought the Paper Dolls cartridge just for the dinosaurs. I figured that I have spent more than that just on dinosaur dies that were tiny. I didn't think I would ever use the paper doll feature of the cartridge. Boy, was I wrong. From the second the package was torn open Canyon wanted "little guys". We made "little guys" all day. We made a knight complete with a magical golden sword. The knight also has a dragon that he can fight. The dragon lives in a cave made out of a diet pepsi 12 pack box. We made a cowboy with a lasso and a cow to use the lasso on. We also made a super hero and a hula girl. He played with them all day, and when he wasn't playing with them he was begging me to make more. He even told Marissa if she was really good he would make her a princess and let her press "unload paper". Silly kid.

Birthday card for Card*a*licious 20

This is a card I created for the challenge at Card*A*Licious. The challenge this week was to make a birthday card using green, blue and circles. I pulled out some of my Cosmo Girl Friday scraps and got to work. See the white paint again? I'm addicted I tell ya.

Papers are Cosmo Girl Friday
Flowers are Prima
Ribbon is Maya Road, DCWV and Basic Grey
Stamp is K&Co
I found those cute wooden buttons at the dollar store.
I cut the large flower shape with my Cricut using Accent Essentials. I love that cartridge.

Something Scrappy and Some Weather

I finally got something scrappy done. I guess you could say I've had "scrappers block". That didn't stop me from buying new supplies however.

I created this layout last night. I love how it turned out. I recently discovered painting on my layouts and I am very happy with the results. The white around the outside was already there, I just painted around the little diamonds. I am considering taking off that big gear and giving it a whitewash also.

I made that big gear on my NEW CRICUT EXPRESSION!! Isn't it awesome. I am so happy with my cricut, this is exactly what I wanted it for.

Bought those little screws a long time ago. First chance I had to use them.

These are the cards from the Create My Keepsake kit. Aren't they gorgeous. Danielle is so talented. You can get to her blog from here. Homespun with Heart.

I added a couple personal touches to each, but not much. Gotta love stickles.

More white paint.

I'm not into birds, but this one is pretty on this card.

Marissa put together the Basic Grey cupcake kit. She followed the instructions, and then made them her own. I'm proud of her, she did a great job. She loves the stickles like her mama.

She also found some brads I've never used.

Another brad for a cherry.

What's with the weather here in South Dakota? We woke up to this! It's almost May!
I had better shut down my computer now, We've already lost power for a couple minutes 3 times.

Busy Saturday

We went to a birthday party Saturday morning for cousin Ashlyne at Eileen's Cookies. The kids took a tour then got to decorate 2 cookies to take home. Eileen's has the best sugar cookies that I have EVER had ANYWHERE. I was snapping away pictures the whole time. The kids decorating, close ups of plates of colored frosting, close ups of sprinkle cups. I could tell some of the other parents thought I was weird taking pictures of sprinkles.

After the party I went to show my husband all of the brilliant photos I had captured. No memory card in the camera. Sheesh!

Canyon's first soccer game was Saturday afternoon. He looked so cute! Very focused on the game and kicking some butt, which they didn't. Pee Wee soccer is hilarious! One kid stood on the sideline with a grumpy look on his face the whole time and wouldn't play. Every once in a while there would be a stray somersault on the field or someone would just sit down. Canyon loved it, he ran non-stop the whole game and kicked his little heart out. So much fun!

Grandma Jacq and Grandpa Gary came in from Casper to pick up a puppy they bought out of the paper. Isn't she cute? Canyon couldn't leave her alone. I got harassed all weekend about getting a dog. Not happening!

I'm Here

I've totally been neglecting my blog!

We went to Wyoming for the long Easter weekend. Could I have found time at my in-laws for a blog post? Yes. Did I? No.

I worked on my taxes for 2 days. Could I have found time during frantically scouring the house looking for receipts to do a blog post? Yes. Did I? No.

It then took me 2 days to clean up after the chaos that my mostly unsupervised kids caused while I was doing my taxes. Yes, 2 days!! Could I have taken a minute to do a blog post? Yes, I did, I'm doing it now. I'm still not done cleaning!

I got sick and tired of my button drawer not closing, so I dumped some of my buttons in to this giant wine glass thingy. I'm not sure that I am happy with it. My neurotic, color sorting mind is screaming at me.... "What have you done? They were in sets!" I'm sure the first time I am looking for a specific button I will be kicking myself, but now my button drawer closes.

A little Disney

Here are a couple layouts I got done this weekend. I was in some kind of funk, and didn't get any layouts that I liked done until the retreat was almost over.

This one was inspired by Susan Stringfellow of Creatively Savvy. I love her Disney layouts! This is the new Fancy Pants paper Summer Soiree. The ticket stamps are Close to My Heart. I wasn't sure that I would get much use out of them, but I have! I scanned Goofy's autograph and printed it on a journaling card. I also stuck a couple "hidden Mickeys" into the layout (although they aren't very hidden), ala Susan.

This isn't one of my favories, it is missing something and I haven't been able to figure out what. Maybe I should try a lighter background? I love these pictures though and the animal print papers are great.
I have a few more layouts to post, they just need finishing touches.
Thanks for stopping by.
